Are you looking to go beyond the intuitive painting process and learn how to combine both expressive and compositional techniques? During this enhanced Abstracts on Yupo paper course, we will work on a unique surface combining elements from the principles art and elements of design to create a collection of work that will elevate your ‘intuitive’ skills and arm you with the foundation to make your abstract work pieces that command attention!
As part of our ReMe Retreats, author, instructor, and mixed media artist, Jodi Ohl will guide you through a day and half (plus extra hours of open studio) of exercises, prompts, discussions, and of course lots of painting, printing, and drawing on yupo paper. Students will work on multiple pieces that will work together in a body of work. You can expect to finish 4-8 pieces during our time together!
Does color intrigue or mystify you? Do you get lost in your head while creating Abstract paintings? Do you desire to go beyond what you already know and enhance your skills around design? Join us for ReMe: The Sandhills for this fast paced and fun filled course during our time together.
Supply List: As always, we strive to make it as easy as possible for you to just show up and join us for our retreats. With that in mind, our supply list is very minimal for our course offerings. Please bring: 2-3 soft and hard brayers. I like to have a few options of small and large brayers to vary my work with. I will have a few to share and a couple for sale if you’d rather pick yours up at the studio (first come first serve). For open studios, feel free to bring your working journal or any other projects you’d like to play with during out time together. *We will be using Golden’s High Flow paint and Yupo paper which will be provide for you along with: pens, paint pens, markers, gauche, stencils, and assorted other mark making tools. Other than brayers, there will be plenty to share but if you have any favorite colors of paint or stencils you just can’t live without, please bring them along. Any questions, please email Jodi at firstname.lastname@example.org
